There is a great need for godly leadership at the gates of the city.

Leadership Development

Leadership Development: We must raise leaders who can influence others using the discipleship method Jesus employed with the Twelve. We must walk alongside young leaders to help them grow in their relationship with Christ, their understanding of worldview, the application of biblical principles to their vocation, and their ability to influence others. This is one of the primary purposes of this book.Occupy Till I Come

The Need for Kingdomizers

What is needed now are servant leaders, Monday Christians, in every area of leadership in society. A good leader knows who and Whose they are and has a powerful, compelling vision of where they want to go. That north star for every Christian leader is the coming of the kingdom of God.Occupy Till I Come
We need kingdom-oriented leadership whose primary vision is advancing the kingdom of God rather than merely making money, achieving status, and “living the good life.” We call these leaders kingdomizers. Their ranks include:
  • Doctors who don’t bow to the love of money but advocate for community health.
  • Lawyers who work tirelessly to promote justice in society.
  • Engineers who labor against the ravages of natural evil.
  • Artists who speak prophetically to culture with truth and beauty as guides.
  • Homemakers and mothers who daily create spaces of hospitality and nurture their children.
  • Businesspeople who create solutions, employment, and economic flourishing.

Occupying the Gates

We are to be the Monday church in the world, but of another kingdom. The church is to be in the world and engaged with the world’s people as the embassy of the kingdom of God. We are to be a reforming agent—the salt of the earth, the light of the world, the yeast in the loaf—bringing the culture of the kingdom into our communities, cities, and nations.Occupy Till I Come

The Domain of Education

While the beginning of learning is knowledge, the end is wisdom. The book of Proverbs establishes a hierarchy that begins with knowledge (facts), progresses to understanding (discovering truth from facts), and culminates in wisdom (moral application of truth). The end of education isn’t simply filling the mind with data but learning to live wisely. Where are the parents and educators called to lead the next generation in the pursuit of truth and virtue?Occupy Till I Come

Your Domain

The question isn’t whether you will influence your domain. You will. The question is: Will you transform it for the kingdom of God, or will you allow it to be captured by the kingdom of darkness?Occupy Till I Come

Chapter 29 · Bringing Heaven to Earth

Christians are called to be domain transformers who bring kingdom culture into their specific spheres of influence through discipling at the level of culture, practicing the art of influence to advance God’s kingdom in the seven key domains of society, as Monday Christians equipped by the church and serving as the conscience of the nation.

Individual Action: This week, conduct a “kingdom culture audit” of your primary domain. Identify three specific ways in which the domain currently operates contrary to biblical principles and develop one concrete strategy for introducing kingdom culture in that area. Take the first step toward implementing that strategy within the next two weeks.

Daniel 1:17–20—Daniel’s strategic influence in the Babylonian government through excellence and wisdom. Reflection: How did Daniel maintain his biblical convictions while becoming invaluable to a pagan government? What can you learn in your domain from his approach to influence?
